Since starting my blog a year ago I've been working on becoming a better photographer. I have a fairly good camera but so far have only scratched the surface of what it's able to do. So, I've decided to start a new weekly post where I can show a photo I've taken during the week. This will hopefully challenge me to take more photographs and to work on improving my technique. Any constructive criticism will be gratefully accepted!

Well I really like this first photo Sarah. Have a good weekend.
Sarah, I'm crap at artistic stuff, I prefer words, but IMVHO, I think this needs a third item. A scrunched up dying leaf or sprig of dried grasses poking out front left. Three is a magic number and a group of three items works well.
Just a thought (please feel free to ignore). :)
By the way, I think I have the same volume of AofGG.
You asked...here I go :) So what should be in focus in this picture? The point that catches my eye is the lower-left sheet/towel, and I don't think this was probably your intention. I would want the persimmon, in particular a 1/2 inch below the stem, to be very in-focus, and then you can use filters/etc to put some antique/old-fashioned effects on it. The light OR the most in-focus part should tell the viewer where to look.
Perhaps an antique ring should have filled that white space?
I will look forward to these posts of yours as I'd love to be able to take better photos too and hope to learn something from you.
Hi Sarah !
Technically - a composition needs consideration. There are lots of books about composition in photography.
Emotionally - superb ! A young girl reads an old book. She holds a fruit in her hand. The phone rings. She left the fruit and the book on the bed. You are telling a story.
And I love your colors !
Lovely picture! Enjoy the beautiful weekend, Kellie xx
I love photography and News From Italy has allowed me to have an excuse for taking many more photos than I used to. I like this Persimmon shot, have you made anything with the fruit yet?
By the way I am no longer subscribing to comments as my inbox is overwhelmed!
What year is that Anne of Green Gables from??? I love Anne!
And unfortunately I know nothing at all about photography so I can't offer any advice, but I think it's lovely x
Here is a link to a digital camera short course, helped me. The explanations for cameras are very good.
