Master Bedroom

With Matteo away in Australia and me taking on more work in the mornings, there has been nothing happening with the house. In the mean time I thought I'd post some more pictures of the house as it is now.

My favourite room in the house is our bedroom, it has a lovely light and a nice view of the garden from the window.

Thankfully at least one room in the house still has these fabulous tiles on the floor and they'll look amazing when they're polished up a bit. In every other room the tiles have been replaced with something terrible from the 60s! The floor underneath is in a really bad condition so all the tiles will have to come up and be re-laid.

I really love the ceiling / roof of the house. However, it's in really bad condition and will need to be completely replaced. I want to re-use the original materials but it's apparently too expensive and impractical. It breaks my heart to get rid of this amazing roof and I'm still hoping we'll find a way to save it. Any suggestions?

I have no roof saving suggestions - sorry. But boy, what a life you are having! this place of yours is just spectacular!

Sarah Elizabeth you are living one of my dreams, to renovate an old european farm house. Looks really hard but I know it will all be worth it. Can't advise you on your roof sorry. Hope Matteo is having a nice time in Aus.

That window is going to be beautiful in your bedroom, perfect looking out into the garden. Hope Matteo is enjoying his time in Australia and that you are keeping yourself busy so you aren't missing him too much x

maybe you could build a wee summer house/shed/studio/sister flat in the garden with all the old timber?

Hi Sarah, this bedroom looks indeed fantastic! The floor is beautiful (make sure no tile get lost, and maybe no polish, keep it matt). About the roof I will ask around.

Can you not have the roof redone with new timbers but in exactly the same style. We have a holiday cottage with a roof like that and I am sure it was renovated at some time

not a great shot as you can only see the edge. I could maybe take one of it if it would help?
